The Downtown Hickory Art Crawl happens on Thursday, June 12, from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Participating downtown businesses welcome local artists into their shops for an evening of culture and shopping.
The Hickory Community Theatre, 30 Third Street NW, hosts the first Kick-Off Party of the season. View the multi-media selections of Patti Fenick, Ann Barr, Clay James, Barbara and Ken Burns, Selina Setzer, Craig Knauff, Ginny Donahue, Martha Mullins, Elise Starnes, Tammy Lea Brooks and Ric Courchesne. Full Circle Arts celebrates the opening of their new gallery at 266 First Avenue NW. A not-for-profit educational artist's cooperative with a mission to encourage appreciation and education for the arts has found a new home in downtown Hickory. The works of P.L. The Shoppes on the Square, 246 Union Square, are featuring a variety of artists in the Atrium. Artists include Natasha Mayberry, Akacia Robinson, Jackie Welge, and the Hickory Museum of Art. Several Shoppes on the Square businesses will also host local talent inside their shops.
The Outdoor Supply Company, 828-322-2297, offers outdoor camping and adventure supplies. Brands include North Face, Patagonia, and Mountain Headwear. On June 12, the animal and pet portraits of Charles Laxton will be featured.

Kay Robb Portrait Artist is a commission portrait painter working in oil and pastel. Kay paints from life or photographs. Her Shoppes on the Square studio now features the Piedmont Painters Gallery with the art of Dottie McHugh, Helen Johnson, Judy Rider, Ruth Peterson, Susan Powers, Cathy Taylor, Mary Dobbin, and Frances Bost.
Orange Cat Photography highlights the wedding and lifestyle photograph of Dana Andreasson. The oil paintings of Daniel Charles will also be featured in the Orange Cat studio.

The Armory, 201 Government Avenue SW, has served Hickory in a variety of ways from a livery stable to an armory to an office building since it was built in 1912. On June 12, the building will serve as a gallery for the CVCC Photography students of Joe Young.
