"31 Days of May" will kick off May 1 with it's first highlighted place being Lowes Foods Park and the splash pad at Kiwanis Park because that is the day water will be turned on at the parks. This is the second year that the Hickory Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is doing its "31 Days of May" campaign, which coincides with the US and NC Tourism week.
"There is so much to do in Hickory and throughout Catawba County that we want to celebrate the importance of tourism the entire month, not just a week," said Mandy Pitts Hildebrand, Hickory Metro CVB CEO. "We are fortunate to live in a community where there is something for all to enjoy. We are doing this to encourage people to explore what's in our own community and then do their part to tell the world about it!"
The calendar has a suggestion of events, places and activities to do throughout the month. The calendar includes everything from visiting local parks and attractions, like the Hickory Crawdads, Hickory Motor Speedway, Catawba, Science Center, Hickory Community Theatre, and more, to shopping at the Hickory Furniture Mart, which is visited by more than 500,000 people each year, and visiting local restaurants.
