City of Hickory Announces Sarah Killian as New Communications Specialist

Sarah Killian has joined the City of Hickory Communications Department, under the direction of Communications and Marketing Manager Dana Kaminske, as the new Communications Specialist.
Killian is a Catawba County native with years of marketing and communications experience in the private sector. She graduated from Bunker Hill High School before attending Appalachian State University to earn Bachelor's Degrees in Marketing and Management, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Before joining the City of Hickory Communications Department, Killian served as the marketing director for Everett Auto Team, a local family owned and operated automotive dealership group, for the last seven and a half years. Her prior professional experience also includes academic research, healthcare marketing and public relations, university recruitment, and sales. Her strong educational background, unique set of skills, and years of marketing experience in the private sector will enable her to be a great asset to the Office of Communications.

"The City of Hickory has so much to offer and I am proud to now have the opportunity to serve my hometown community. I look forward to developing strong relationships with our local media and keeping Hickory residents engaged and informed of all the great things the City of Hickory is doing to enhance our community," said Killian.

As the City of Hickory's Communications Specialist, Killian will serve as the media liaison for the City, writing and sending City press releases, producing City publications, coordinating special events, managing City social media, overseeing City photography, as well as working with Kaminske on other internal and external communications projects.

"We are thrilled to have Sarah working in the Communications Department," said Kaminske. "She brings a wealth experience and skills to her new position, as well as new ideas to enhance our current communications. I look forward to partnering with her and my team to communicate to the local community, but also regionally and nationally, about all that Hickory is doing and what things are coming to our City through our bond projects and future economic development."

Former Communications Specialist Sarah Prencipe has been promoted to the City Manager's Office, working as Governmental Affairs Analyst. She will be reporting to Yaidee Fox, Assistant to the City Manager, and will handle all legislative responsibilities.
